Shabazz joins Hudson City Board of Education

Jeanette Wolfberg is reporting in the Columbia Paper Sumayyah Shabazz is the newest member of the Hudson City Board of Education. Shabazz fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Peter Rice. She will serve through May 17, 2016. The district issued an open call for applicants, and Shabazz was the only person to come forward. Originally from New York City, Shabazz has resided in Hudson 15 years -- her youngest child graduated from Hudson High School last year. She was employed by the school district as a substitute teacher for four years and served as a counselor at Berkshire Farm for 12 years. Shabazz will serve as a member of the board's Policy Committee, along with Sage Carter and Maria McLaughlin. Read the full story in the Columbia Paper.
