Catskill school board elects new leadership

Greg Hudson is reporting in The Daily Mail the Catskill Board of Education selected new leadership at its annual reorganizational meeting Tue., Jul. 5. Former board vice president Kyle Lyles will replace Andy Jones as president, and Sasha Kubicek will assume the role of vice president. Interim District Superintendent Annemarie Barkman said Wednesday, “I’m very happy with the selections of the school board. Both [Lyles and Kubicek] care deeply about our students and...embrace the goals we have adopted for the district.” The district goals are targeted at improving educational opportunity and academic success for students in the district. Barkman said administrators want to decrease course failures by 10 percent, and increase student assessment proficiency by 5 percent. Barkman thanked Jones for his service as board president.
