Coxsackie-Athens school employee accused of sexually abusing students

Diane Pineiro-Zucker is reporting for the Daily Freeman a Coxsackie-Athens High School hall monitor and wrestling coach is facing allegations of sexual abuse and forcible touching of students, state police and district officials said April 12. Vincenzo Multari, 45, of Athens, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, forcible touching and three counts of sexual abuse, all misdemeanors. In a phone interview with the Daily Freeman, Coxsackie-Athens Superintendent Randall Squier said Multari has been employed by the district for “a couple of years,” and was placed on paid administrative leave as of his arrest April 11. Multari was arraigned in Coxsackie Town Court and sent to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. In an email to parents and guardians, Squier wrote the district is “thoroughly reviewing this incident and have been and will be cooperating with police in their investigation. ... I can assure you that we will seek opportunities to improve our practices from what we learn from these reviews.” Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
