Legislature approves increased school aid

Nathan Mayberg reports in the Register Star the state Assembly and state Senate approved spending budget resolutions Mon., Mar. 11, which would increase state aid to local schools far more than Gov. Andrew Cuomo originally proposed. Both houses also restored funding to Coarc by adding $120 million into the budget. The details of the two resolutions must be worked out before a final budget is passed. The Assembly’s budget bill rejected the governor’s proposal to limit the plea bargaining of traffic tickets but allows new state mandated surcharges for certain traffic violations.
