Forum on TCI fire planned

The Register Star is reporting the Columbia County Environmental Management Council will host a public forum Oct. 8, on various questions related to the TCI fire with Dr. David Carpenter, director of the Institute for Health and the Environment at the University at Albany’s School of Public Health. Carpenter is an expert on the human health effects of environmental contaminants, including metals and organic compounds. A Council spokesperson aid the forum is intended to focus on the science of what happened at the fire site and surrounding areas, and how emergency personnel can be prepared to safely handle a similar incident in the future. The massive fire and explosions occurred overnight, Aug. 1. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The forum will take place at the Ghent Recreation Center on county Route 22.
