Local radio updates:
• WGXC celebrates its fifth anniversary in February, and is hosting an Open Call for covers of the song "Take Five." Submissions, interpretations, mash-ups, and mix-ups of the song, should be sent to info@wgxc.org, or dropped off in-person at the WGXC Hudson Studio, 704 Columbia Street, 2nd Floor, prior to February 10, 2016 for inclusion in anniversary events such as WGXC's High Five Pledge Drive (February 11-26, 2016).
• WCAA-LP, the new low-power community radio station licensed to Grand Street Arts in Albany, holds an organizational meeting from 6-8 p.m. Mon., Jan. 18, at the Albany Public Library, 161 Washington Ave. WCAA-LP stands for “Community, Arts and Activism!” and will be transmitting on 107.3-FM.
• The Rip Van Winkle Amateur Radio Society's monthly meeting is at 7 p.m., Mon., Jan. 18, at the Churchtown Firehouse in Columbia County. There will be an election of officers for the group that represents amateurs in Greene and Columbia counties.
• WGXC holds a Community Programming Advisory Committee meeting at 7 p.m. Tue., Jan. 19, at the WGXC Hudson studio, 704 Columbia St., floor two, in Hudson. The WGXC Community Programming Advisory Committee reviews incoming program applications, conducts programming evaluations, and provides feedback about the community program schedule.
