Sep 26, 2017 6:15 am

The Times Union is reporting Albany residents spend approximately 16 minutes every day, or 60 hours every year, stuck in traffic jams, according to TomTom's 2017 Traffic Index. The GPS manufacturer's annual report ranks congestion on roadways in 390 cities in 48 countries on six continents. The worst place in the world to drive is Mexico City; in the United States it is Los Angeles. Albany ranked 178th out of 390 cities worldwide and 65th out of 80 cities in the U.S. Among the 150,000 residents of Albany County who are employed, 85 percent drive to work and 78 percent drive alone, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
