Jesse McKinley and Susanne Craigjune report in The New York Times state lawmakers agreed June 18 to extend rent regulations until June 23, when they would resume legislating. While the rent regulations are on hold, the legislature did announce an agreement to overhaul the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The bill was expected to pass both houses of the New York Legislature, but it also needs approval in New Jersey, where it is not a sure thing, according to The Times report. Legislators are expected to go home for good June 24, the story says.
