Rensselaer Chamber president Hillman resigns

Robin K. Cooper in the Albany Business Review reports Linda Hillman is resigning after 15 years as president of Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce. Hillman more than doubled the organization's operating budget during her tenure. "We are in a really strong financial position," Hillman said. "There is so much going on in the area right now, that the time seems right." Chambers of commerce used to generate much revenue by providing low-cost group health insurance programs to sole proprietors and other small businesses, but the Affordable Care Act ended that, but Hillman says the Rensselaer organization still has a strong retention rate, 89 percent.
