Catskill village under water conservation advisory

Sep 29, 2016 7:00 am

Greg Hudson is reporting in The Daily Mail a water conservation advisory has been issued for residents and water customers in the village of Catskill. The notice was issued after officials noted the village's primary water source, was running low. "This is just a warning to say that our reservoir is at 30 percent," Catskill Village President Heather Bagshaw said Wed., Sept. 28. Bagshaw said the reservoir's low water base, coupled with the unusually dry summer, could lead to a water emergency if the area does not receive more rain. The village Department of Public Works is urging residents to take voluntary measures to reduce water consumption. To conserve water the state Department of Environmental Conservation suggests: Turning off the faucet while shaving or brushing teeth; repairing dripping and leaking faucets and toilets; washing only full loads of dishes and laundry; and, taking shorter showers or filling the bathtub only part way. In July, the state was placed under a drought watch by the DEC. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
