Cuomo: ‘I believe we will have debates’

Matthew Hamilton is reporting at Capitol Confidential Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo told reporters in Buffalo, Wed., Sept. 10, he thinks there will be debates with his opponent in the general election, Republican Rob Astorino. He said, “The campaigns have to work them out. But I believe we’ll have debates.” Democrats last week chastised Cuomo's primary challenger, Zephyr Teachout, for debating Astorino in New York City. State Democratic chair and former Gov. David Paterson said the debate only gave Astorino a venue to promote his extreme views. Astorino Wednesday morning said he would like to have a one-on-one debate with Cuomo.
