State park entry free on Black Friday

Matthew Hamilton is reporting in the Times Union New York is not charging admission to state parks on Fri., Nov. 24, as part of a Thanksgiving holiday weekend promotion. The governor's office said that while a majority of state parks are free this time of year, Niagara Falls, Walkway Over the Hudson, Rockefeller State Park Preserve, Minnewaska State Park Preserve, Connetquot River State Park Preserve and Bayard Cutting Arboretum, among others, are waiving the standard vehicle entry fee that day. A full list of Thanksgiving weekend events, including information on a miniature marionette show and a wrapping paper workshop, to be held at the Olana State Historic Site in Greenport, is available at Parks [dot] NY [dot] gov [slash] events.
