Ulster County DA recount slow going
Dec 27, 2019 12:18 am
Ariél Zangla reports in the Daily Freeman that so far, a hand recount of ballots in the Ulster County District Attorney election has found only three possible discrepancies. But there are at least 14 more towns in Ulster County to count. "The process is moving along" and should be completed in early to mid-January, Republican Commissioner of Elections Thomas Turco said. Republican Michael J. Kavanagh led by three votes over Democrat David Clegg on election night, then Clegg was leading by 79 votes out of 53,623 cast, a margin of 0.15 percent, after the absentee ballots were added. So far the three discrepancies were "not due to any problems with the voting system" and would make it a 78-vote lead, according to Turco. Read more about this story in the Daily Freeman.
