Regional unemployment rates generally decline

The Daily Freeman is reporting unemployment rates fell last month in six of seven local counties, the state Department of Labor reported, Tues., Nov. 26. Only Dutchess County had a jump in joblessness, up one-tenth of a percent from September to October. In Greene County, unemployment dropped from 7.5 percent to 7.3 percent; in Columbia County, the jobless rate declined from 6.1 percent from 6 percent. The statewide unemployment rate last month was 7.5 percent, up slightly from 7.4 percent in September, labor officials said. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
