Taghkanic Dems endorse two for town council

Katie Kocijanski is reporting in the Register-Star the Taghkanic Democrats have endorsed Arthur McGuire and Linda Swartz for two vacancies on the Taghkanic Town Council. McGuire is a political newcomer. He is an attorney with a long business career, and the secretary for the Taghkanic Volunteer Fire Company. "I believe that my experience in both the city and the country would be particularly useful on the Taghkanic town board," McGuire said. "I have come to love this town." Swartz was elected in 2014 to serve the remainder of former board member Debora Gilbert’s term, and is now looking to secure her own first, four-year term. Swartz is originally from Pleasant Valley in Dutchess County. She has been a resident of Taghkanic for the past 15 years. Swartz retired from the state Department of Transportation, where she was employed for 36 years. The general election is Tue., Nov. 3. DISCLOSURE: Gilbert is a WGXC programmer.
