Coxsackie-Athens may change election practice
Oct 10, 2013 6:34 am
Melanie Lekocevic is reporting in The Daily Mail the Coxsackie-Athens Board of Education is considering a change in how candidates for that board are elected. Under the current practice, board candidates must declare their intent to run for a specific seat. The proposal under consideration would make board of education elections "at large," meaning those elected would represent the full district, rather than a designated portion. A public hearing to gauge community reaction to the change will be held Thurs., Oct. 17, at the E.J. Arthur Elementary School. If the board decides to move forward with the proposal following the public hearing, the question would be put to a referendum May 20, as part of the annual budget and school board election.
