Barrett organizes TCI informational meeting

Assemblymember Didi Barrett (D-NY103rd) has announced an informational meeting for residents of Columbia County on the Aug. 1 fire at the TCI NY facility in West Ghent. According to a statement released by her office Wed., Aug. 8, Barrett has requested representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the New York State Dept. of Health, Dept. of Agriculture and Markets, Dept. of Environmental Conservation and the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services attend to address community concerns over the possible release of PCBs, dioxins and volatile organic compounds into the atmosphere during the event. “We look forward to having as many of the federal, state and county agencies that responded to this fire and conducted the subsequent testing to join us for this meeting to share more detailed information and answer questions of the local residents," Barrett said. The meeting will be held 6:30 p.m., Aug. 16 at the West Ghent Volunteer Fire Department station, located on Route 9H, near the entrance to the Columbia Co. Industrial Business Park. And tonight Bill Black, Director of Columbia County Emergency Management, will discuss various issues raised by the TCI fire at the regular meeting of the Columbia County Board of Supervisors, at 7:30 p.m. at 401 State Street in Hudson.
