Ulster County switches to green purchasing standards

MidHudson News reports that Ulster County is starting an “Environmental Considerations Checklist” for capital projects and updating the county’s purchasing policies to stave off global warming. Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan says that now items purchased by the county will meet green standards for environmental protection as it moves towards its goal of using 100 percent renewable electricity by 2030. Ryan says the county will take into account greenhouse gas reduction, renewable energy expansion, natural resource protection, and other issues when making purchases.
