Retail gasoline prices on the rise statewide

The Daily Freeman is reporting the average retail gasoline price statewide in New York rose 4.3 cents per gallon last week, to $2.83 as of Sun., May 11. The national average increased 4 cents per gallon to $2.66, according to GasBuddy. “The rapid rise we’ve seen in the national average over the last several weeks appears to be slowing,” said petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan. “The rise in crude oil prices has been the largest explanation for the rise in gasoline prices over the past few weeks." New York’s average gas price Sunday was $1.06 per gallon lower than the same day a year ago, but more than 27 cents higher than a month ago. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
