Greene County shared services conversations to continue

Daniel Zuckerman is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media talks over shared services in Greene County continue, even after the legislature approved a resolution in September that would have the county opt out of the statewide plan for 2017. Greene County Administrator Shaun Groden said the county is simply not ready. However, the panel of village and town leaders will continue to meet in an effort to find ways to consolidate services in the coming years. When it next meets, the panel will take up the idea of getting county employees together to purchase a health care plan, Groden said. With multiple county employees and their dependents signing onto a plan, it will make it easier to negotiate a better price. While there were 20 ideas for sharing services previously suggested, health care figured most prominently, Groden said.
