Natasha Vaughn reports for Columbia-Greene Media that 15 residents and 21 staff members at the Brookwood Secure Center in Claverack have contracted COVID-19, according to the Columbia County Department of Health. Staff members, of course, mingle about in the larger community, so health officials are concerned about the possible spread. "When you take out the Brookwood numbers and we had a little cluster with one of the farms locally, if you take those clusters out, we'd have a fairly low community rate," Columbia County Director of Health Jack Mabb said. "Our numbers are nothing compared to what's going on in New York City, overall our numbers have been fairly stable." All local Hudson Valley counties have now reached 30 percent of adults receiving at least one vaccine dose according to the state tracker website. Greene County is just there at 30.1 percent, and Albany County leads locally at 37.3 percent. In between, Ulster County is at 34.4 percent, Columbia County is at 33.8 percdent, Rensselaer County is at 32.7 percent, and Dutchess County is at 31.2 percent. Further west, Schoharie County is at 27.5 percent, and Delaware County is at 26.1 percent.
