The City of Hudson's website says that at 3 p.m. July 10 the city holds a public hearing about a law that would a zoning amendment that would mean developers no longer have to provide off-street parking space for new businesses. Amanda Purcell reports for Columbia-Greene Media that Hudson's current law requires a property owner or developer to have one parking space for every three seats at an eatery or bar and one parking space for every five seats at a movie or live theater. The new law says, “Parcels of real property to be developed within the City of Hudson shall not be required to establish a minimum number of accessory off-street parking spaces.” Planning Board Chairman Walter Chatham claims Hudson has plenty of parking spaces. “We have a vast number of surface lots that are rarely full,” Chatham said. Mayor Rick Rector will have three days after the public hearing to decide whether to sign the resolution into law.
