Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Feb. 19 that 26 communities around the state are getting “Solarize” campaigns to increase use of solar energy, but none of them are in the WGXC listening area. “By helping communities across the state install solar technologies, we are opening the door to new opportunities that will lower household energy costs while protecting the environment years into the future," Cuomo said. Albany, Troy, Beacon, and Woodstock are among the nearby municipalities included in the plan, and a Columbia County proposal, from the Chamber of Commerce, is promised in the spring.
