Japanther add audio outpost in Acra
Aug 21, 2012 12:25 am
Japanther (Ian Vanek and Matt Reilly, below) built a "Remote Audio Outpost" at Wave Farm in Acra. Wave Farm is a center for radio artists, that also includes a WGXC studio. As artists-in-residence, Japanther built this project with Jason Rutherford and Gardener Allen, as an A-frame structure with a rotary telephone tied into solar panels to power the mp3 recorder inside. The phone will be set so anyone who picks up the receiver triggers the recording, and has hook-ups for live broadcasts from the back corner of the forest at Wave Farm. (Disclosure: free103point9 is WGXC's parent non-profit arts organization, working with artists who use radio in their work.)
