Capital Region Independent Media buys Manchester group; names new GM for Ravena, Greenville papers

The Greenville Pioneer is reporting Capital Region Independent Media last week purchased Manchester Newspapers and named Warren C. Dews Jr. general manager of the Ravena News-Herald and the Greenville Pioneer. The Manchester family sold its newspaper group to CRIM President and Publisher Mark Vinciguerra on Nov. 15. Manchester Newspapers is a weekly newspaper and specialty publishing company that prints five newspapers weekly, in addition to 40 plus specialty publications every year. Newspapers included in the sale are the Granville Sentinel, the Whitehall Times, the North Country FreePress, the Hudson Falls FreePress and the Lakes Region FreePress. Dews is currently chief operating officer of CRIM's sister company, the National Press Institute for Audience Growth. He is is a 30-year veteran of the business side of the media industry. “I tell people all the time that local media will never die.
