Ariel Zangla in The Daily Freeman reports that the Greene County Legislature approved $15.6 million to finance infrastructure improvements needed to build a proposed indoor water park and resort at a New Baltimore business park. Legislators passed six separate resolutions at a special meeting Wed. Feb. 29, for roads and a sewer system, for the proposed Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park resort. The developer, MAR Holdings, must present construction funds for the resort, officials said, before they spend any, and the plan has to go through traditional permitting and planning channels. "Two legislators, Patricia Handel, R-Durham, and Joseph Izzo, R-Catskill, voted against some of the bond resolutions. Handel said she was concerned the water park would hurt small, family-owned businesses in the county, while Izzo said he was concerned the project was being given a 30-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement," Zangla writes.
