Farmland expanding in Dutchess County

Patricia R. Doxsey reports in The Daily Freeman that Dutchess County farmland being included in designated agricultural districts grew 19 percent since 2008. Dutchess County farmland in the districts jumped from 164,380 acres to 196,164 acres since 2008, according to a report from the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Dutchess County. “This is ... so people understand the impact and how important agriculture really is in this area,” said Jennifer Fimbel, the Dutchess County agricultural navigator. “Everybody says agriculture is dying and it really isn’t.
