No applause at the Chatham Town Board

Emilia Teasdale reports in The Columbia Paper that no one applauded the Chatham Town Board's move to ban clapping at future meetings. Free speech is a little less free inside the Town Hall where the board voted, “no member of the public shall engage in any demonstration, booing, hand clapping or otherwise disrupt the formality of the town board meeting.” The next Chatham town board meeting, with no applause, will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 19 at Town Hall.
