Grocery stores struggling to fill shelves with some items, start limiting purchases

Bethany Bump reports for the Times Union that Price Chopper grocery stores are implementing purchase limits to stop hoarding, and make vital supplies available to many customers in a national emergency. Price Chopper adds quantity limits on paper towels, bath tissue, water, hand sanitizer, household disinfecting wipes, isopropyl alcohol, and hand soap beginning March 13. Hannaford stores are also struggling to keep the same items on the shelves. "We're searching widely for new sources of supplies, and stores have implemented a purchase limit on certain items to ensure that products remain available," Hannaford President Mike Vail wrote. Price Chopper also has a home delivery service in some areas, that may be useful to the sick who cannot go out, or others avoiding human contact. Read more about this story in the Times Union.
