Work attempts to reduce sediment in Lanesville creek

Jul 21, 2022 1:03 pm

Mid-Hudson News reports that work is under way on the Stony Clove Creek in Lanesville in Greene County. The stream restoration project is about a mile north of Lanesville along State Route 214. The Stony Clove Creek is the largest tributary to the upper Esopus Creek, which feeds the Ashokan Reservoir, which supplies drinking water to New York City. The site has become the largest producer of fine sediment in the Stony Clove Creek subbasin, which is not good for drinking water. The $2 million restoration project started in June and should be complete in September. Read more about this story at Mid-Hudson News.
