Local funding restored in state budget

David Lombardo reports in Capitol Confidential that two Assembly Democrats are claiming that the proposed cut in state aid to towns and villages is not included in the final budget deal. The state budget is due by March 31, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo originally proposed $60 million in cuts for towns and villages where the funding stream represents less than two percent of their municipal budget. But The Buffalo News first reported the money has been restored in the latest version of the budget that's being negotiated behind closed doors in Albany.
