As part of the Movement Without Borders series, PS21 is teaming up with the city of Hudson and local youth and community groups to present a master class with the Mark Morris Dance Group, as part of Waterfront Wednesdays, a summer series of family-friendly programming at Henry Hudson Waterfront Park. This movement workshop introduces the community to choreography from some of the works in the group’s repertoire, taught by Mark Morris Dance Group members, and accompanied by live music. This year’s Bridge Street Theatre Summer Youth Musical, featuring an all-student cast and slated for a two-weekend run August 4-14, will be the Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” which tells the story of an eclectic group of sixth-graders engaged in the most cut-throat competition of their young lifetimes. These hapless tweens attempt to spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping against hope not to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals the fact that they’ve made a competition-ending mistake. Six finalists enter – only one can come out on top! But which one will it be? A riotous roller coaster of a show (complete with audience participation!), “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleasing comic delight! Abe Hollow is the solo songwriting project of Los Angeles-based composer, recording engineer and music researcher Adam Hirsch. Vibes include reflexive chromaticism, esoteric sublimity and the Great American Songbook. Subject matter ranges from hyper-localized autofiction and water ballads to Yiddish mythology and self-delusion. Adam has studied music under Pauline Oliveros, Fred Frith and Roscoe Mitchell; his clients and collaborators have included Rose Droll, Luke Temple, Sam Amidon, gabby fluke-mogul, Sam Evian, Boy Scouts, Stephen Steinbrink, Market, Stephen Becker, Meernaa, and many more. Wave Farm's seventh annual Audio Buffet and WGXC Programmer Picnic took place on Saturday August 6, 2022. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

Performances by Blue Museum and Setting Sun. Blue Museum started a few years ago by Michael Hollis, but they found their sound when Jeremy Boniello joined the project and began contributing his songs to the band. Michael and Jeremy composed their new record when everyone was forced into isolation during the pandemic and enlisted award winning composer/producer/engineer Scott Petito to help them realize their vision on Room to Breathe. Room to Breathe draws influences from power pop groups such as The Lemonheads, 90’s alternative like The Flaming Lips, and experimental indie rock like Phil Elvrum and Wilco. The band is excited to share the songs from Room to Breathe with the world. You can catch them live with their full band featuring Phoebe Heretz on vocals and keyboards, Phil Motl on drums, Josh Boniello on bass, and of course, Michael Hollis and Jeremy Boniello on guitar and vocals. and Full 4-piece band playing mostly new songs from the upcoming record from Setting Sun.

PS21 returns to Crellin Park Day with an interactive program featuring “846,” a retelling of Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring.” “846” by the Jamal Jackson Dance Company reimagines Stravinsky’s seminal work in our present day USA. The 1913 score depicts rituals celebrating the advent of spring, after which a young girl is chosen as a sacrificial victim and dances herself to death. “846” reflects upon our “everyday” filled with love, loss, appropriation, fear, and judgment, and interrogates our nation’s compulsion with sacrificing Black bodies in order to thrive.
