Bobby Previte's Blueprints. Hudson valley composer Bobby Previte leads a conceptual performance, with webcasts at wgxc.org and wavefarm.org. Previte has invited some of his favorite musicians in the Hudson Valley and beyond for these inaugural concerts of his newest project, Blueprints. Starting from 1979 and going forward up to the present moment, Previte has ripped a fragment of nearly every piece of music he has written in the last 39 years and placed them all, divorced from their previous context, into one (very long) document. The ensemble will play, distort, improvise around, and sometimes ignore these fragments. Using hand signals, body movements, and the occasional odd glare, Previte conducts the musicians through the maze, taking a different path every night. Part performance, part open rehearsal, part hang out - where audience members as well as players will see the fragments projected on screen - Blueprints should be a wildly different experience each performance. The rocks of Rensselaerville record local history from long before dinosaurs. Particpants can explore the local geology and deep-time history on a walk along the falls with Dr. Charles Ver Straeten of the New York State Museum. Semi-rugged walk; sturdy footwear required. Walkers meet at the Huyck Preserve Visitors Center.

Omi International Art Center's Artist Walk is a weekly tour with artist Sarah Butler. Artist Walk invites visiting individuals and groups for an introduction to featured exhibitions and permanent installations at The Fields Sculpture Park, including conversations in design, cinema and cultural studies. Ali Smith leads an open-level workshop where participants will learn two different ways to color cloth with natural dyes. Create and experiment with three dye baths- avocado stones, onion skins, and a seasonal foraged pot. Each student will create a swatchbook - an important tool for any natural dyer.

Wave Farm's fourth annual Audio Buffet will take place on Saturday August 25, 2018, 3 - 7 p.m. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational broadcast on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM.

A new Spanish-language program of animated, documentary, and live action films full of warmth, wit, and the cultural richness of our friends and neighbors to the south: Mexico. Drawn from the Festival’s annual Friends and Neighbors program spotlighting a different country every year, this lineup is co-curated with Mexico’s Morelia International Film Festival. All films are in Spanish with English subtitles or no dialogue.

Columbia County Soil and Water Conservation District hosts an evening at Mud Creek to learn why bats are important to our ecosystem and how to help them thrive. We will also learn about the origins of full moon names including Sturgeon Moon and Grain Moon and experience the full moon as we walk the trail and explore the nightlife at Mud Creek.
