The Voodoo Orchestra, led by jazz drummer, improviser, and composer Bobby Previte, is devoted to exploring the music of Miles Davis's eternal electric jazz-funk masterpiece, "Bitches Brew." Featuring Tyler Wood on Hammond organ and Moog synthesizer, Tony Kieraldo on Fender Rhodes piano, Jonathan Talbott on violin, Keith Pray on soprano saxophone, and Marcus DeGrazia on baritone saxophone. Singer/songwriter, Maggie Rothwell, plays guitar and sings in the gazebo. original compositions. Rothwell is a Crane School of Music graduate and has been playing and teaching music locally for many years. She also works as a music therapist at several nursing care facilities, teaches music at a local daycare center, and hosts the weekly open mic at Taste Budd's Café in Red Hook.

Columbia County Soil & Water Conservation District is hosting a family fishing event on Wednesday, August 15th from 11 am to 2 pm at Nutten Hook, Ice House Road, in Stuyvesant. Participants will learn how to fish and what kinds of fish live in the Hudson River. No experience or reservations required. We run a fully stocked fishing program, and will have a fish display tank where you can observe some of the Hudson’s finned residents. Literacy Connections volunteer teams provide drop-in classes for speakers of other languages throughout Columbia and Greene Counties. For many years, artist Bruno Pasquier-Desvignes’ summer parties were a not-to-be-missed highlight of the social calendar. Set amongst the lush, labyrinthine gardens of his Livingston farmhouse, visitors not only enjoyed the delicious first strawberries of the season, but had the opportunity to step into the magical world of the artist’s mind. Omi International Art Center's Artist Walk is a weekly tour with artist Sarah Butler. Artist Walk invites visiting individuals and groups for an introduction to featured exhibitions and permanent installations at The Fields Sculpture Park, including conversations in design, cinema and cultural studies. Aimee Harrison‘s fiction and poetry have appeared in journals such as the Lifted Brow, Indefinite Space, and The Inman Review. She is a co-founder of Small Po[r]tions Journal, and a co-founder of St Rocco's Reading Series. Cole Heinowitz is the translator of "Advice from 1 Disciple of Marx to 1 Heidegger Fanatic" (Wave Books, 2013) and the author of three books of poetry. Heinowitz is Associate Professor of Literature at Bard College.
