Tusha Yakovleva discusses the Hudson Vallen Seed Library and the Hudson Community Garden. (Audio)
Feb 25, 2013
Interview by Melinda Braathen.
Tusha Yakovleva works at the Hudson Valley Seed Library in Accord, NY. The Seed Library has a seed farm to grow, save, and pack seeds for farmers, and a full-see catalog for all gardeners. Yakovleva works, packs, and harvests the seeds, and contributes to the Seed Library blog. In this interview, Melinda and Tusha talk about the Hudson Valley Seed Library as it transitions into Spring, as well as its long-standing initiative, in which the Library commissions and collaborates with local artists to create seed packs, each representing a different artist's visual interpretation of a special vegetable, plant or flower housed and packaged in the Seed Library. (The deadline for submissions is March 15th). Yakovleva also discusses the Library's collaboration with the Hudson Community Garden on Columbia and 2nd Street, and the garden's new compost pick-up program, which launched this weekend.
