Mark Ruffalo is such a fine and talented actor and activist. I first became aware of him in the Laura Linney flick, YOU CAN COUNT ON ME. A lot of people said that he reminded them of me in his role as the aimless but well-meaning younger brother. I was flattered of course by the comparison, but mostly, I was impressed by the emergence of a new talent to the indie film scene. Frankly, I thought he deserved an oscar nomination for his performance, which was naturalistic, heartfelt, and showcased impeccable acting chops while hiding the craft. Lately, I was equally impressed by his haunting portrayal of Rob Billot in the Todd Haynes movie, DARK WATERS. Of course, I've seen nearly all his movies (except for the Marvel CU because of my personal beef with Robert Downey Jr) including his deeply erotic and feminist character study with Meg Ryan, IN THE CUT, which was widely misunderstood at the time, but keeps gaining relevance as the years march on. People tell me that Mark is a fan of "Infinite Contact" and catches the show whenever his schedule allows. So what I think all of us at WGXC would appreciate from Mark, in exchange for all my years of loyal fandom, and talking up his name on the message boards and defending him against the haters on substack, is a sizeable donation from Mark to our fundraiser "Slow Down," and a live on air phone call from Mark. I'm told there's interest. We would also accept an "in kind" donation rom Mark, such as an article of wardrobe from one of his films, such as one of those gray raglan sweatshirts he wore in YOU CAN COUNT ON ME, a look he definitely stole from me. Everyone knows I was the first one my social group to wear those raglan sweatshirts.
