Hunter Mountain hosts the fourth Winter Carnival Cardboard Box Derby at 3 p.m. Sat., March 9, where anyone can build a sled out of cardboard, paper, tape, glue, and string and compete for prizes. Awards are for creativity, rather then speed, and, "you also need to finish with all your team members on board." Download a registration form here. Hunter has six of ten lifts running over 18"-60" of snow, and a fireworks display after dark Saturday. Windham Mountain has 49 trails open, with six lifts open over 16"-42" of snow. In Hillsdale, Catamount Ski has four of six lifts over 27 of 33 trails, and 20"-38" of snow.
