The state constitution was amended a decade ago to set up an independent commission to handle the redrawing of Congressional and state legislative district lines following the federal census. However, the state legislature, dominated by the Democrats, will end up once again drawing the lines - largely to favor the Democrats (i.e., gerrymandering). Blair Horner of NYPIRG discusses with WOOC's Mark Dunlea what is happening, the possibility of litigation, and how the process still needs to be reformed. The CHPE (Champlain Hudson Power Express) project would bring Canadian Hydropower to New York City using a cable routed along the Hudson River. Richard Webster, Legal Director of Riverkeeper, talks with WOOC's Mark Dunlea about submitting comments opposing the project over climate, jobs, and environmental concerns by Feb. 7 to the Public Service Commission which has to decide whether to approve it despite the announced support of Governor Hochul.
