Elia resigns as Education Commissioner

The Daily Freeman reports that New York Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia announced July 15 she is resigning Aug. 31. A spokesperson at the Department of Education would only say that Elia will pursue another, unspecified professional opportunity. Elia was Education Commissioner since 2015.
