Amanda Purcell reports in Columbia-Greene Media that if it gets to build a new gas station at the Bells Pond intersection in Livingston, Global Partners will sell the Xtra Mart gas station across the street, representatives of the company said at a meeting May 1. Global Partners wants to put a 4,800-square-foot building with a 24-hour gas station, convenience store, and an Alltown Fresh café at the northern end of the intersection of Routes 9, 9H and 23. The company is now before the Livingston Planning Board for approval. “The misconception that is floating out there is that this is a truck stop,” said Rob Ousterhoudt, project manager with Bohler Engineering. “Along the lines of the parking and fueling that I mentioned, I just want to clarify this is not a truck stop, this is merely a neighborhood market with fuel service, with gasoline and diesel. We have added some truck parking at the planning board’s request to address safety concerns, but there will not be any overnight parking of trucks here. Idling will be limited in accordance with state law. This is not intended to be a truck stop.” Read the full story at HudsonValley360.com.
