Japanther perfom Tue., Aug. 7 in Albany at Valentine's, and they started the day at midnight on WGXC. The Brooklyn duo of Ian Vanek (drums), and Matt Reilly (bass) are artists-in-residence this week at free103point9's Wave Farm in Acra. The group made a WGXC station ID/theme song that you can listen to here. Japanther is an art project, established by Reilly and an Vanek, then students at Pratt Institute, who played many shows with free103point9 in the late 1990s. Japanther was featured in the 2006 Whitney Biennial and the 2011 Venice Biennale, and has collaborated with artists such as gelitin, Penny Rimbaud, Gee Vaucher, Dan Graham, Eileen Myles, Kevin Bouton-Scott, robbinschilds, Dawn Riddle, Claudia Meza, Todd James, Devin Flynn, Ninjasonik, Anita Sparrow and Spank Rock.
