Wirefull Flags:
Flags have been used for thousands of years to communicate without
words. They can be used to show unity or can express independence and
individuality. More recently, electrical wiring has become important
for non-verbal communication. Now wires form a network that spans the
globe and unifies while allowing individual expression and
exploration.
This summer, LoVid is presenting a series of Wirefull Interventions,
where people have an opportunity to interact with the physical
substance of electronic communication, wires. For Wirefull Flags
(June 14, 2008 in Hudson, NY), audience will have an opportunity to
create their own flags, which they will hang from wires that connect
to one of LoVid's sound and video producing instruments. The audience
will hold these wires to fly their flags and will simultaneously
contribute their individual bodies' electrical signals into a
collaborative creation of sound and video.
