On the mornings of Wednesday 24 th August (Australian time), breakfasters in Sydney will be sitting down to share food and sounds with all who would care to partake. We will be mixing a live stream from our breakfast location in Rozelle and invite the collaborations of other radio foodies. We are working with the theme of “Aural Degustation: breakfast radio.”
Show starts at 7:30 p.m. NYC time (EDT, -4 GMT).

The internationally recognized experimental theater collective The Wooster Group premieres a contemporary, live performance based on original Dada materials. Questions and processes that informed Dada are parallel to interests of The Wooster Group, including experimentation with new technologies, collage techniques, and the deliberate misuse of convention. Directed by Elizabeth LeCompte, the three performances feature core Wooster Group members Kate Valk, Scott Shepherd, and Ari Fliakos with special guests. The Wooster Group's technical design team will contribute to the sound and video elements of the piece, and architects Liz Diller and Ricardo Scofidio will consult on the set design. This performance is held in conjunction with the exhibition Dada, on view through September 11.

Approximate running time is one hour. No fixed seating; the audience is free to move throughout the performance. Priority seating is available for individuals with disabilities and special needs.

At the closing conference of the EU Culture 2000 project 'Radio.Territories' in Vienna, Sarah Washington and Knut Aufermann will be presenting a spectacle of European radio art, featuring highlights of the work that developed from the radio.territories project.
We would like people to send us miscellaneous one minute radio works which will be broadcast live on radio stations (including free103point9) across 7 countries on the 15th September 2006 from 19:00 - 20:00 Central European Time (+1 GMT). This is 1 p.m. EDT.
There will also be live micro-appearances in the studio from representatives of the contributing radio stations including Ed Baxter, the mastermind of Resonance 104.4-FM in London. Meistersoundtwister Dieb 13 from Vienna will be on hand to distort the proceedings.

Time Labs is a radio show that celebrates the EU Culture 2000 project 'radio.territories'. The show features one minute works produced by more than 40 artists, highlights of the work that developed from the radio.territories project and micro-appearances in the studio from representatives of the contributing radio stations. The trio first met in Portland, Oregon in 2000, and began playing free improvised music of their own discovery coupled with desires and influences. Played extensively in Portland as a trio and in other settings. Toured west coast and other parts of US...began living in seperate cities in 2003...still collaborate and communicate. This is first time performing in same room together as a trio in two years.

The Demonstration by Anna Friz

Originally designed for pirate radio broadcast as part of a youth theatre/media and democracy project in Toronto, Canada, spring 2006. I created a series of pieces to serve as mediascapes surrounding actors in a physical theatre, reflecting on themes suggested by participating high school students (ages 16-18) such as power, commercialized culture and media saturation, justice, and freedom. The pieces were heard from radios suspended in the theatre, broadcast on 4 watts FM.

This broadcast is part of the weekly Radia network broadcast on free103point9. Anna Friz is a sound and radio artist who divides her time between Montreal and Toronto. For the past eight years she has predominantly created self-reflexive radio for broadcast, installation or performance, where radio is the source, subject, and medium of the work.

Friz has presented installation and performance works across Canada and in international media art contexts such as the Third Coast Audio Festival, Chicago; Digitales, Brussels; Club Transmediale, Berlin; Ars Electronica, Linz; die Akademie der Künste, Berlin; the Fifth International Biennial of Radio, Mexico City; and Arte Nuevo Interactiva, Yucatan. She has produced numerous original radio works for independent radio across Canada and the U.S., and for public radio in Canada, Austria, Germany, Denmark, and Mexico.

Anna is a Ph.D. candidate in the Joint Communications and Culture programme at York and Ryerson universities, Toronto.

The radio of the present is filled with reports of the dead. Rather than dream again of the radio transmitting messages from those who have passed away, what communication might we be missing from those living around us? What nearly inaudible signals, transmitted in moments of intensity, crisis, or near death, might we hear if the radio was tuned to hear? What do people seek to transmit, in a moment between the intake of breath and the breath held, waiting, in tension? You Are Far From Us reflects the mortal dreams of radio, where union with others may be impossible, but where the radio could nonetheless have a potential for conscience and consciousness. This is a search for a poetics of radio, made of intimate sounds revealed, performed by a chorus of receivers.

Rehearsals every Wednesday until preview week starting October 11 through January 10. Richard Foreman’s new show is like any of his others, it won’t be dead for long. The Ontological-Hysteric production features airplanes “breaking through the language barrier” and who knows what else. It’s the author’s second mixed-media project, following on the 2006 “Zomboid!” Sophie Havilland and the Bridge Project collaborate with Mr. Foreman on the accompanying video presentation, shot in Lisbon. Previews begin Jan. 18. Opens Jan. 25.

Otis Hart described the nature of the band\'s music in Dusted: "Reach for an initial word, a label - say Doom Metal - then watch, as the demonic guitars slowly morph into demonstrative bliss. Drone may come a bit closer to the truth, but only slightly, as silence plays an equally significant role in the proceedings. Alas, Growing\'s anomalous sounds dwell in perpetual nigh-fidelity, permeating the gaps between equalizer settings with evasive intent, frustrating any attempr at optimization, and therefore, classification."

Mammal
Michigan-based noise artist. First NYC show since 2003. From Dusted: "The sense of forward movement and the hypnotism of the lonely electronic modulated beats bring to mind Chris Carter's early solo pieces. Except where Carter was sometimes too tidy and too in touch with melody to let the undercarriage rot, Mammal is all about the capture and preservation of steady degradation."

Giancarlo Bracchi
Bracchi (aka Mangoon) has been chruning out solo blat for nearly three years. A local New York artist, Bracchi creates decaying wastelands of sound through processed howls, guttural zombie moans, feedbacking guitar and flushing toilets.
"(Mangoon) combines speaker-punishing electronics and percussion with throat-shredding vocals. There are moments here that could pass for the drummer from The Trashmen leading Neubauten through a junkyard re-think of "Surfin' Bird", while other parts are so unequivocally blunt they could take yr face off. This is some supremely diseased lo-fi grudge: if you dig Lux Interior as much as Richard Rupenus, this is a great one to strap to yr mug." - David Keenan
