A foodradio_network event hosted by Andrew Burrell and the Sydney College of the Arts Hybrid Radio Research Group. Thus breakfast radio event incorporates live feeds from Adelaide and San Francisco and a public breakfast event in a Sydney gallery. This event is part of a three week long exhibition and event program - "Aural Degustation, Tasty Bites to Feed the Ears" at the SCA Galleries, in the Sydney suburb of Rozelle.

DESTRUCTO SWARMBOTS has released a self-titled, tour only CD and the full length, “2” available on Creepy Dog Eyes. They also remixed the ISIS song, “From Sinking”, which appears on ISIS Oceanic Remixes Vol. 4 LP available on Robotic Empire and the Japanese edition available on Daymare Recordings, which collects all 4 LPs together as a 2CD set. DS recently collaborated with Baltimore’s DRUMMACHINEGUN for a release which will see the light of day in 2005. DS member, Mike Mare, is also one half of the group MUNG, whose forthcoming debut, "Dididau," is slated to be mixed by Hans Joachim Irmler of FAUST.

Dark ambience is the focus but not the rule, as there's an earthy beauty inside these howling machines. Cells divide, electromagnetism radiates, blood pumps, gravity pulls. It's noise music, yes, but the kind that envelops and keeps you company on lonely evenings. Insects with Tits is Roger Smith of Chefkirk & Kenneth Yates of Harm Stryker, both of Virginia. Their project is an experiment, like the best things in life-- a politically and socially explicit venture with a focus on vegan action.

On the mornings of Wednesday 24 th August (Australian time), breakfasters in Sydney will be sitting down to share food and sounds with all who would care to partake. We will be mixing a live stream from our breakfast location in Rozelle and invite the collaborations of other radio foodies. We are working with the theme of “Aural Degustation: breakfast radio.”

The internationally recognized experimental theater collective The Wooster Group premieres a contemporary, live performance based on original Dada materials. Questions and processes that informed Dada are parallel to interests of The Wooster Group, including experimentation with new technologies, collage techniques, and the deliberate misuse of convention. Directed by Elizabeth LeCompte, the three performances feature core Wooster Group members Kate Valk, Scott Shepherd, and Ari Fliakos with special guests. The Wooster Group's technical design team will contribute to the sound and video elements of the piece, and architects Liz Diller and Ricardo Scofidio will consult on the set design. This performance is held in conjunction with the exhibition Dada, on view through September 11.

Approximate running time is one hour. No fixed seating; the audience is free to move throughout the performance. Priority seating is available for individuals with disabilities and special needs.

At the closing conference of the EU Culture 2000 project 'Radio.Territories' in Vienna, Sarah Washington and Knut Aufermann will be presenting a spectacle of European radio art, featuring highlights of the work that developed from the radio.territories project.
We would like people to send us miscellaneous one minute radio works which will be broadcast live on radio stations (including free103point9) across 7 countries on the 15th September 2006 from 19:00 - 20:00 Central European Time (+1 GMT). This is 1 p.m. EDT.
There will also be live micro-appearances in the studio from representatives of the contributing radio stations including Ed Baxter, the mastermind of Resonance 104.4-FM in London. Meistersoundtwister Dieb 13 from Vienna will be on hand to distort the proceedings.

The Demonstration by Anna Friz

Originally designed for pirate radio broadcast as part of a youth theatre/media and democracy project in Toronto, Canada, spring 2006. I created a series of pieces to serve as mediascapes surrounding actors in a physical theatre, reflecting on themes suggested by participating high school students (ages 16-18) such as power, commercialized culture and media saturation, justice, and freedom. The pieces were heard from radios suspended in the theatre, broadcast on 4 watts FM.

This broadcast is part of the weekly Radia network broadcast on free103point9. Anna Friz is a sound and radio artist who divides her time between Montreal and Toronto. For the past eight years she has predominantly created self-reflexive radio for broadcast, installation or performance, where radio is the source, subject, and medium of the work.

Friz has presented installation and performance works across Canada and in international media art contexts such as the Third Coast Audio Festival, Chicago; Digitales, Brussels; Club Transmediale, Berlin; Ars Electronica, Linz; die Akademie der Künste, Berlin; the Fifth International Biennial of Radio, Mexico City; and Arte Nuevo Interactiva, Yucatan. She has produced numerous original radio works for independent radio across Canada and the U.S., and for public radio in Canada, Austria, Germany, Denmark, and Mexico.

Anna is a Ph.D. candidate in the Joint Communications and Culture programme at York and Ryerson universities, Toronto.

The radio of the present is filled with reports of the dead. Rather than dream again of the radio transmitting messages from those who have passed away, what communication might we be missing from those living around us? What nearly inaudible signals, transmitted in moments of intensity, crisis, or near death, might we hear if the radio was tuned to hear? What do people seek to transmit, in a moment between the intake of breath and the breath held, waiting, in tension? You Are Far From Us reflects the mortal dreams of radio, where union with others may be impossible, but where the radio could nonetheless have a potential for conscience and consciousness. This is a search for a poetics of radio, made of intimate sounds revealed, performed by a chorus of receivers.
