Chatham theatre screens sensitive films
May 09, 2019 8:01 am
Jeanette Wolfberg reports in the Columbia Paper that Chatham’s Crandell Theater began April 28 showing a sensory sensitive version of G, PG, or PG-13 movies on Sunday afternoons and a captioned version Monday evenings. Sensory sensitive movies have sound and lights dimmed for viewers who can only tolerate less than conventional levels of sound and/or light. Cosmic Cinema in Greenport is also considered showing films this way. The new movie screenings were discussed at the April 23 meeting of the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Subcommittee of the Columbia County Community Service Board.
