Colby stepping down as Chamber of Commerce President

Roger Hannigan Gilson is reporting in the Register-Star David Colby announced Mon., Mar. 21, he will be leaving his position as Columbia County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO in late April. Colby will be relocating to Clermont, Florida, where he will lead the South Lake Chamber of Commerce. He has served as the Columbia County president for nearly 13 years. Colby told the paper he was most proud of the chamber's support of small businesses at planning and zoning board meetings, and the way it has become a distinct voice in the community, during his tenure. Colby said in a statement, "It has been a pleasure serving the local business community. Columbia County is a special place that will continue to grow and thrive.” The transition to a new president is now underway, with the formation of a selection committee.
