Athens church wins grant for repairs

HudsonValley360.com reports that the First Reformed Church in Athens is getting a $10,000 grant to repair its steeple and dormers from the New York Landmarks Conservancy. The church, at 18 North Church St., dates back to 1826. Besides services, the church has a Sunday school and youth and adult choirs, and hosts Hudson River handbell concerts, Athens and Coxsackie Community Band Christmas concerts, Kindermusic classes, and classical concerts sponsored by the Athens Cultural Center.
