Legislators fear contamination at former gas station

Jim Planck reports in The Daily Mail the Greene County Legislature’s Finance Committee Mon., July 15, agreed to look into the environmental status of a property the county wants for back taxes. The property in question is the Tepper parcel, located north of Catskill village on Route 9W, opposite the Central Hudson substation. Legislators identified the property as a former gas station. A preliminary environmental investigation suggest the site is contaminated. Greene County Treasurer Peter Markou suggested the county should be wary about taking ownership until the status of the site is fully known. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
