Kaylyn Hohn is reporting for Capital Region Independent Media the Ravena Dog Park is now open, after holding its grand opening Sept. 15. The park is located at the end of Whitbeck Street near the Mosher Park Pool and behind the VFW Hall. “It’s hard to believe that until just recently, this area was an overgrown, weedy eyesore,” said Ravena Mayor William Misuraca. “Now, I see potential. Potential for canine fun, sure, but also potential for our community as a whole.” There is no charge for use of the dog park through Dec. 31, but dog owners must register with the Village Clerk's Office. At the grand opening Saturday, the mayor acknowledged and thanked the volunteer Dog Park Committee and the many organizations and individuals that contributed to the park including the Albany County Legislature, LaFarge-Holcim Ravena and the National Bank of Coxsackie.
