Hudson Valley Dems react to Barrett nomination

MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting Democrat elected officials from the Hudson Valley are speaking out about the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court. U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand said the nomination “represents the further degradation of our democracy and the continued politicization of our judiciary. Even if this process had been legitimate, Barrett’s anti-choice views, opposition to the Affordable Care Act, and hostility to immigration rights and civil rights make her completely unfit to serve on the Supreme Court.” Gillibrand pledged to vote against her nomination. U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney said Barrett's “rushed nomination… to fill Justice Ginsburg’s seat is a direct threat to millions of Americans who have benefited from the protections Ruth Bader Ginsburg fought for as a lawyer and Supreme Court justice for over 60 years.” Maloney said Trump is “hellbent on decimating the Affordable Care Act and the healthcare of millions hangs in the balance.” He urged all Senate Democrats to oppose Barrett’s nomination “and this illegitimate process.” Maloney’s opponent, Republican Chele Farley, said her “admiration of Judge Coney Barrett does not end with her impressive legal resume, but also extends to her incredible dedication as mother of her seven children.” Read the full story at MidHudsonNews [dot] com.
